In nineteen thirty-seven the Nazis staged the Entartete Kunst exhibition. Degenerate Art. They put modern paintings on display to mock them. Jewish painters. Modernists. Cubists. They called it un-German. Unhealthy. And ordinary Berliners came to laugh at what the gallery had ones fought to preserve. But decades before, in eighteen sixty-three Paris, Manet painted Olympia. "Altes Museum" Old MuseumIn the center of Museum Island in Berlin stands the Altes Museum — the Old Museum. Eighteen columns support its entrance. And behind them, Prussia changed forever — without a single shot being fired. Year eighteen twenty-three. Architect Schinkel receives a strange order: build a museum. But not for the kings. For everyone. In that Berlin, it was a dangerous idea. Around it rise the symbols of power: the King's Palace, the Army Arsenal, the Cathedral of God. and Schinkel added a fourth, at the same height: art. The wide staircase. The eighteen open pillars. Everything says the same thing in siSee more ›€0.99 full7 min audio7 languagesAI voice

The figures are the liquidators, the workers who decontaminated Chernobyl after the reactor exploded in April nineteen eighty-six. When the Wall fell in late nineteen eighty-nine, one hundred eighteen artists from twenty-one countries were invited to paint it in spring nineteen ninety. The black background was not just night. Anne Frank CenterIn a Berlin courtyard covered in graffiti, a portrait of Anne Frank smiles back. Below it, an entrance to a center that asks one question. Why a museum about Anne Frank in Berlin? The Anne Frank Zentrum opened in nineteen ninety-four. But it stands in the Scheunenviertel, Berlin's old Jewish quarter—and that choice of location is everything. The Scheunenviertel was where Jewish migrants fleeing pogroms in Russia and Poland aSee more ›Free8 min audio7 languagesAI voice

Federal Chancellery - BundeskanzleramtOn the Spree, where the Wall once split the city in half, architects built a cube so immense it could swallow eight White Houses whole. This is the Bundeskanzleramt. Nineteen ninety-one: Berlin chose to move its capital back from Bonn. They needed a symbol, not just an office. Axel Schultes and Charlotte Frank designed it to be transparent—glass everywhere, no hiding. Inside the cube, light floods the corridors like a confession. Berliners call it a washing machine. Look at the curve, the way it bends—it's exactly a drum spinning in the spin cycle. In the courtyard stands a bronze sculpture bySee more ›€0.99 full4 min audio7 languagesAI voice
